Soil Association

What They Do

They promote planet-friendly food and farming through education, compaigns and community programmes. They support farmers and growers with advice and certification. They organize visits of organic farm and arrange with local farmer partnership to help the community to understand and increase the organic food.

Any product sold as ‘organic’ must comply with strict rules set at UK, European and international levels. These rules, known as standards, assure consumers they are buying genuinely organic products that can be fully traceable back to source.

One of the Soil Association’s founding principles was to play a role in educating the public about the connection between soil, food, the health of people and the health of the planet. To support their education work they have a number of resources and programmes: Food for Life PartnershipOrganic Farm SchoolOrganic Apprenticeship SchemeVisit an organic farm. We have taken on two apprentices in the last few years at Purton House Organics, and are involved in educating and training the next generation of farmers and growers.
